As awesome as your book is, the main factor responsible for selling it is the cover. A cover is the pretty wrapping paper, the business card, and it’s the first thing your reader will see. A cover is what attracts the audience, especially the digital audience, to your book and makes it want to buy it.

That said, you don’t need just a pretty cover. You need a cover that speaks to your audience and about your story, so that your reader won’t get frustrated. These are the traits that I value the most in my work. An attractive and coherent cover not only allures readers, but captivates the right ones, and drives way more positive outcomes than just a pretty cover that has nothing to do with your audience and your story.
